All finished and ready to set sail!

Here is an update on yesterday's unfinished fleet, here they are looking a bit prettier and more decorative! (Click on the photo for a better look!) This big order is going to a lovely shop in Holkham on the Norfolk coast, called Bringing The Outside In. It has won several awards and has a fab website for all you coast lovers out there - and I love that you put your virtual shopping in a bucket rather than a basket!

I think this little one is my favourite.

I'll miss my fleet - even from the back they look nice on the windowsills!
These boats will not be available online, so if you are ever visiting the beautiful north Norfolk coast, pop in to the shop and let me know how they look!

Work in Progress: Shipbuilding

Okay, that's an exaggeration, more like little boats and tugs than ships! I will show you an 'after' shot once I've tarted them up a bit - these will be going on a journey to a lovely shop in Norfolk later this week.
Got to keep it short tonight, I'm so sorry I've not been on the blog circuit much lately - I will make sure I catch up with you all real soon.

Beach finds and more

Hello readers, hope you are all enjoying the sunshine - even Monday mornings don't seem so bad when the weather is this good!
Sorry I've not been around much lately, I've got a couple of big shop orders (more about that at a later date) which is taking up alot of my time. I'm not complaining as it obviously means money, but on the downside it means no new designs - which is my favourite part of the job!
I did however manage to put together the above pieces of driftwood at the weekend. It's quite a big piece, I'm not sure what to do with it yet... maybe a giveaway(?) seeing my blog anniversary is creeping up on us!

I'm not sure what this was - I found it on the beach just like this - but I thought it would make a good moon!

Old paintbrushes wash up on the shore regularly - I'm going to start collecting them as they make cool fish!

Here's another one - looks like a pipefish. Perhaps I'll frame it and entitle it 'Ce n'est pas une pipe'!

This little piece of wood looked just like a whale, so I added a couple of strips of rusty tin to finish it off!

Something fishy is going on here!

Meanwhile we have been having great fun playing around with the Hipstamatic app on Steve's i-phone - I just love the effects...

This one is out of focus but I still like it!

And I'll leave you with my favourite! Thank you to everyone who left a birthday message to the little man last week - it really means alot to me!

Birthday Boy

I've got to make this quick! We've got friends staying and it's terribly rude disappearing to write a blog post, but I couldn't let the day go by without a special mention to our little Herb who turned 3 today!
Here he is sitting on one of his presents - a Gruffalo trunki. This photo would have been lovely if his uncle Dave wasn't trying to ply him with beer!

He requested a dinosaur cake - I'm always up for a challenge! I was quite pleased with my efforts (I like getting creative with chocolate fudge icing!) until his big brother piped up with, 'I thought it was going to be standing up!' at which point I nearly forced his head into aforementioned cake with some vigour!

He seemed to enjoy it anyway!
Time for a walk to burn off some of those calories!

Such a beautiful day, feels like summer all of a sudden!

Back home at last, surely you've had enough chocolate for one day?! But cousin Molly is tucking into buttons from her Easter egg....
'Go on, just one!'
'Only if you give us a kiss!'...

Happy Birthday Herbie! Hope you had a fab day!

Homespun Fair

So the Homespun Fair was a great success! The weather was good to us and there were plenty of happy customers throughout the day. At one point I was panicking that I hadn't made enough stock, luckily for me it calmed down a bit in the afternoon! Always nice when you sell alot of stuff, but the best bit is chatting to the other stallholders and customers and being able to put a face to the name of fellow bloggers!

I was only able to take a few photos before the battery in my camera died, so I apologise if I haven't got a shot of everyone's stall.

This was the flower stall in the entrance... such a pretty sight - and a wonderful first impression!

Just some of the goodies on sale from Shabby Chick - some of you may know bubbly Amanda from Totnes Market...

This beautiful and intricate purse was made by the talented and lovely Viv of Hens Teeth...

Isn't she clever?
And these hand-printed ribbons by fair organiser Jane aka Jane and the Happy Crow!

..and some of her sweet little cards.
And last by not least, my very favourite of all....

Check out these beautiful creatures by The Vintage Magpie. I totally fell in love with them - they look even better in real life! I was lucky enough to be positioned next to lovely Nicky (along with her charming daughters!) who proved to be great company!

I have a few pieces left over that will be going into my Folksy shop later, including this jolly driftwood piece...

I hope you enjoyed your day if you were there - if you couldn't make it this time, there is another planned for Sun 8th August so pencil it in your diary!

Happy Easter

I found an old sketchbook the other day. Back in my college days I used to fill loads of them with drawings like these - usually of birds - and then use them as a basis for making lino and screenprints.

I thought they would translate very well to a bit of freestyle stitching...But it is soooo difficult! Not only am I completely out of practice at drawing anything, you have to move the fabric (rather than the needle, obviously) so it's like learning to draw all over again. I kind of like that though.

Just a short post today! Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Easter - enjoy the weekend!
